Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. 1996, she was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). A few years later, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent by 1988. She was made Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a part of the panel during 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her work in the defense for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. She covered a wide range of noteworthy stories including weapons control, the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal and was frequently with President Reagan to meetings with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
